2007 acura tl type-s
News of the 2007 Acura TL Type-S is under embargo until September 1st, but a paper in Boston fucked up and went to press already. I was looking forward to the Type-S and even thinking about trading in my 2004 Acura TL 6MT. Unfortunately, the ass clowns at Acura dropped a poser Type-S.
In the days of way back, the Type-S designation meant something. Like extra horsepower, and lots of it, a tighter suspension, nicer gauges, and a red badge on the trunk. All the 2007 Acura TL Type-S includes is a red badge on the trunk. I am extremely disappointed Acura did not up the ante with the 2007 Type-S. However, they had no problem raising the price.
What Acura fucked up:
- A distinct lack of horsepower - my grandmother’s Cadillac has more;
- Front wheel drive - fuck that, if I am paying for an “s” on the trunk, I want to powerslide that bitch around some clover leaves;
- Styling - weak sauce, Acura should contract with Ron Jon for a bad motherfucking body kit; and
- Price - at $39,000, who the fuck are they kidding? I would take a G35 coupe, IS350 6MT*, or even a poorly built 330i for that kind of cheddar.
What Acura got right:
- J35.
Notes:
* Rumor has it that will be available in 2007.

So what’s the S? Is that like a A-SPEC with all the cosmetic enhancements and and anti sway bar? The car already has something like 270 hp, but if it’s an S they need to put a turbo on it or something to get it up to over 300. When BMW puts the M on something it means something. First, it means way better performance. Second, it means more time in the shop.

Essentially yes, but I don’t think the Type-S has the ASPEC suspension parts. I may be wrong though, there isn’t a ton of information out yet. Therin lies the rub - they didn’t get it up over 300hp, it only has a paltry 286.

That sucks Smoove. It hurts when your company turns it back on you.
A Turbo RWD luxury sports Acura would’ve been awesome.

Sad day indeed when the 2007 MDX (300HP) will outpower a TL Type-S. Between this TL debacle, dismal sales of the RL and burying the RSX, it seems like Acura has lost touch with their customer base.
I need a new sedan, but think I’m better off going with a early 2000s M5 rather than dealing with what Japan is offering these days.

Smoove, baby … you rank high for a “2007 Acura TL type s” search. So the 286 horses ain’t more than the regular TL will be?
Starting to like that TSX a bit. Thoughts?

You should try searching “Atlanta Sucks” - I’m top five on that one.
I assume the regular TL will remain at 258 horses. I doubt Acura would increase it much if they want to sell any Type-S sedans.
I think the car is a sorry fucking excuse for a Type-S. Like Seth mentioned above, a RWD turbocharged Type-S with over 350 whp would have owned.
