Last week, I found myself eating dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery in the Buckhead Shooting Gallery™. As an appetizer, I ordered a Rock Bottom India Pale Ale (IPA). Although tasty, I was disappointed because none of the trademark grapefruit notes were present and the beer was not at all bitter. This beer would be a decent American Pale Ale, but is certainly not an IPA.

that’s interesting. maybe it differs from city to city. I run a gallery and have been serving rock bottom for some months, mostly their IPA. while I don’t think it passes well for an IPA on some levels, mostly the color and smell, this one is spot on bitter with a very present grapefruit essence. I find it actually a little too hoppy and it has that distinct american bassiness, but it is my favorite beer I serve next to stella.
