three in a row

Sunday, October 10th, 2004

Another year, another victory over Kansas State. R.C. Slocum always seemed to have Kansas State’s number and it looks like Dennis Franchione does too. Not a bad showing, but the points allowed is much higher than the season average. Apparently the Wrecking Crew went on vacation sometime during the third quarter. Fortunately, the new and improved offense put up enough points to win the game.

not too shabby

Finally, Texas A&M won a game against a ranked opponent in the Franchione era. Although the ranked status of Clemson is arguable, since they lost to an unranked Georgia Tech team last week. And we all know Georgia Tech blows sloths. Because I was in a television free zone this weekend, I unfortunately did not get to see the game. However, based on the stats, it looks like the Wrecking Crew, missing in action last season, finally found its way to Kyle Field.

fire the coach part two

First, I would like to thank the Texas A&M football team for shutting out Wyoming this week, despite the inept coaching of Dennis Franchione. Reggie McNeal looked like the second coming of Michael Vick, with 44 rushing yards on 11 carries with 1 touchdown. And what a sweet touchdown it was, he ran up the middle untouched and into the end zone. It was like he had wheels instead of feet. He also had 297 yards through the air on 17 completions.

It is too early to tell, but it looks like Aggie fans will not have to suffer the indignity of two losing seasons in a row. However, Mr. Franchione will only be forgiven by this critic when he beats Texas in November.

fire the coach part one

[As a point of clarification, the Texas A&M/Oklahoma game referred to in the following paragraph is out of chronological context and was played in November of 2000 - Ed.] A few years ago, after the Aggies lost to the Longhorns for the second year in a row, I held the opinion that R.C. Slocum should retire. Prior to that, after standing in Kyle Field and watching the Aggies almost pull off an upset over the number one ranked Oklahoma team, that would go on to win the national championship, I also expressed the opinion that Mr. Slocum should probably hang it up. I now apologize for holding that opinion.

During the off-season, the administration fired Mr. Slocum and hired Dennis Franchione. So far, Mr. Franchione has distinguished himself by leading the Aggies to their first losing season since 1982 and losing to getting blown out by motherfucking goddamn Utah. Which is unpardonable, because Utah does not even play in A REAL FUCKING CONFERENCE. I highly recommend they send Mr. Franchione back to the backwater he came from.
